So a few weeks back I realised that Quirky Bird Theatre is coming up to being three years old and although that might not feel like much of a milestone to some, it made me immensely proud of what the company has become in that time and all the joy and passion we’ve been part of since we began! Anyway, I decided to do something that we have never done before…a showcase or a non-showcase showcase as it has become known…but an opporturtunity to share some of the work and unique craziness that comes out of our classes as well as our professional touring work which has become established in the past year.
And so on July 11th we are taking over Swindon Arts Centre for one night only to present work from my Adult Group Ignite who will be presenting a really diverse programme ranging from monologues and duologues to group Shakespeare and even some musical moments. There’ll be some individual performances from my Acting Ambassadors Rosie Walker and George Hargreaves, both of whom are flying the nest to go to Drama School this Autumn. There will be moments from both touring productions, DNA and That Face to round it all off. All in All – a fabulous mix of all that this company has become in just three years. Mental. Brilliant. Quirky.
Members of Ignite are both terrified and excited to be performing, long term member Diana Fairbrass said “before I joined ignite I lacked confidence in myself now glow with enthusiasm and confidence and have conquered many things. I’ve never met such a beautiful bunch of uniqueness and look forward to every session with great glee and anticipation”.
There has a been great response to all those that belong to the Quirky Bird Theatre family from actors to parents, everyone looking forward to being able to celebrate what everyone has achieved over the past few years – and it’s open to the public!!
This will be a very warm hearted and gentle evening of drama, comedy and fun, celebrating passion, enthiusiasm and joy for the arts.
